Without a fully functioning radiator, your car can’t regulate its temperature so a malfunctioning radiator can lead to serious problems for your car very quickly. Because of this, it’s crucial to head straight to the Chevy dealer when you need a radiator repair. If your car is overheating, then you may need to get towed to the dealer to avoid causing damage to your engine.

Signs You Need a Radiator Repair ASAP

The Temperature Gauge Is Rising

Always check your temperature gauge a few times per journey to make sure the temperature of your car isn’t steadily rising. If it’s steadily rising, then one of the components of your car is overheating. If your car is running increasingly hotter, or if it starts edging toward being critically hot, then you most likely have a problem with your radiator.

The Coolant Level Is Low

If your coolant level is unexpectedly low, then you may have a coolant leak. Signs of a coolant leak include a pool of coolant by your vehicle and discoloration on the parts under the hood.

Coolant that’s pooling by your vehicle will be bright in color and have an unmistakable sweet smell. Spots of discoloration under your hood will be very small, because the discoloration is caused by coolant squirting out onto the hot parts of the engine and rapidly sizzling away. The coolant takes the paint away with it when it evaporates, leaving behind discoloration and, over time, rust.

To keep your Chevy safe, its tires need to be in good condition. Here are some clear signs you need new tires from your Chevy dealer.

1. The Tread Depth is Below 2/32 of an Inch

The most obvious sign that your Chevy needs a new set of tires is when the tread depth falls below 2/32 of an inch. Use a tread depth gauge to measure it. If the gauge reads 2/32 of an inch or less, replace your tires immediately.

If you do not have a tread depth gauge, you can measure your tread with a penny instead. Place the penny in the tire tread groove with Abraham Lincoln upside-down. If you can see the top of his head over the tread, your tire tread is dangerously low.

2. The Tread Wear Indicator Bars are Visible

Modern tires come with tread wear indicator bars. These are small raised bars at the bottom of the tread grooves. As tires wear down, the indicator bars rise to the surface. If these bars are flush with the tire’s tread, it’s time to replace the tire.

Your engine may run on gas, but it needs electricity to get it going. The battery is a vital component as it stores the power generated by the alternator, and its lifespan is usually about three to five years. Read on to find out how to know when it’s time to contact your Chevy dealership about a new car battery.

Caring for Your Battery

A car battery being place in car.

Although the battery provides the initial charge for the starter motor to get your car going, the alternator will recharge it while the engine is running. Making a lot of quick, short trips will use power more quickly than it can be replaced, so it’s a good idea to make regular journeys of a half-hour or more to top the battery up.

The electrical systems will drain the battery when the car isn’t running and may put it under more pressure as it tries to crank the car. You can also help it by making sure that the music, fans, and lights are switched off when you start your car or park up.

How do you know when it’s time to drive down to the Chevy dealership for some new headlights? Let’s shed some light on the signs.

Weakening Headlights

Headlight beams on a white car.

Once you realize that your headlights have become significantly dimmer, it’s obvious they need to be replaced. Headlights can lose their brightness over time, making it harder to see at night or during poor weather conditions. If your headlights have dimmed enough to affect your visibility, it’s time for them to be replaced.

Flickering or Inconsistent Performance

If your headlights are flickering on and off, growing brighter and dimmer without any warning, it’s not just annoying; it can be a serious safety hazard. This issue might be caused by dying bulbs or poor electrical connections in your headlight assembly, and you should have it checked out before your lights can go out completely.
